Shall We Dance.

The long weekend is over. I found myself forgetting what day it was all weekend long, almost like a mini-holiday. Friday was spent at a delicious lunch at Takashimaya and searching for last-season boots at Pedder Red for a friend. I am too nice sometimes. One dollar ice cream, as usual. Shopping and coffee at Tom and Tom's, where they have an alarm-clock thing which they give you, to tell you that your drink is ready.

Saturday was spent at the cinema watching Step up 3, getting inspired, and trying on amazing high heels with studs.

Sunday was laundry/room cleaning day. I attended a few minutes of the symphony orchestra concert at the cultural centre and then rushed off to tennis training only to find out the venue was changed. Tennis training involved two sets of doubles and intense physical training. Then I calmed down with some riddles.

I have been thinking about things that inspire me, and decided to begin collecting things. I firmly believe that a picture can say a million words. However expressing my thoughts requires pictures and words. So here are some things that inspire me...

1. Balinese Dancer painting by Koeh Sia Yong. I used to do Balinese dance.

2. La Petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans by Edwards Degas. I actually saw this sculpture at either the Louvre or Musee d'Orsay in Paris in 2003, and loved it.

3. Flamenco Dancer II by Caroline Gold. I learned flamenco a long time ago.

4. Ballerina by Frank Riederle. I love ballet.

It is all dance this time. 

When you dance, you can attempt to forget everything. When you are concentrating, you do not have the space to let other thoughts disrupt and corrupt you. If you love the music the music will love you back. You can dance off stress, dance to cry, dance to laugh. As long as you are doing it for you, it is right.

I spend a lot of time trying to figure people out. Half the time I do not achieve much. I wish I could understand people better.
Highlights of the weekend: surprising Elisa at Mandarin Gallery for her Birthday, Swenson's mint ice cream whilst watching cosplay teenagers and a Japanese punk rock band, chocolate birthday cake, taking the last bus back all alone (I love my iPod), getting lost 3 times trying to find the chunk fest, Ben&Jerry's chunkfest does not equal free ice cream!!!! Pictures session, a cuddle and kiss with a beautiful golden retriever, sushi, one dollar ice cream, Clarke Quay and late night gossip with Yuh Ting. Lunch, library and laundry on Sunday. Here comes another busy week...breathe...

I am so lucky to call Bali home. I love the chaos, the perfect balance and harmony, the blend of nationalities and the reinvention of everyone and everything. You can be a hippy here. You can practice tree yoga and shake your branches, you can pray for full moon. You can believe in food, you can believe in the surf. You can learn and teach, discover and dance. Take any name you want. You can be old fashioned here. You can be oblivious of technology, or you can own the newest gadget. Notice a pattern? You can be you. And I need to remember that I know how to be me, regardless of where I am.

Highlights of the day:

A project meeting, a lovely nap (best time to sleep is when everyone else is out at class!), an almost drenching thunderstorm, a giggly dinner with Hello Kitty mooncakes, using a Canon E50 and the happy news that I can go home for Christmas after all :)

The Sunday did turn into a proper day, after staying up til 4am talking to Yuh Ting about boys, girls, families, hippies and natural highs. Finally got a data plan...BBM here I come! I have missed you much! Then had delicious ice cream in bread, and yummy sushi. Stopped by Clarke Quay to hear a friend play his first gig. Then back to hall to prepare for yet another week of uni. Hmm...

I miss my garden at home. I wonder what tree is growing on the basketball court outside my window. It has fruit growing on it, which looks a little like mangoes. Could it be? If yes then I can't wait to make rujak! :)

Updates:

Having some downtime today, skype sesh with mummy, printed all my readings for next weeks' classes (must have printed 100 pages!), and hopefully going to dinner with a friend tonight. It's a quiet weekend in hall.

my first blog

i have been toying with the idea of creating a blog for over a year now. i spent a long time looking at other blogs and trying to understand the necessity of one and at the same time how to actually use one. i think i've just created my own first blog, all by myself :)
and this is my first official post!
